JEE Main 2014

  General Information

  • Around 20 Lakh (2 million) students are expected to appear for JEE Main each year.

  • JEE Main scores are considered for admissions to undergraduate engineering programs at NITs, IIITs and other Govt Technical Institutions
  • First 1.5 Lakh rankers from JEE Main are eligible to write JEE Advanced Exam

  Exam Pattern

  • JEE Main has 2 papers, Paper-1 and Paper-2. Candidates may take any one or both as per the course(s) they are seeking admission to
    • Paper 1 : for admissions to B E / B Tech (top 1.5 lakh rankers in this paper are eligible for writing JEE Advanced)
    • Paper 2 : for admissions to B Arch / B Planning
    • Paper 1 and Paper 2 are of 3 hours duration each
  • Marking scheme
    • 90 MCQ questions with 4 choices (30 questions from Physics, 30 questions from Chemistry, 30 Questions from Mathematics)
    • 4 marks for correct answer, -1 mark for incorrectly answered question, 0 marks for unanswered question (max marks 360)

JEE Advanced 2014

  Eligibility

Only 1,50,000 top scorers of Paper 1 of JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced (This translated to cutoff marks of 113 out of 360 in JEE Main 2013)

  What next?

  • Around 18000 All India Ranks are drawn (This translated to cutoff marks of 126 out of 360 in JEE Advanced 2013 for securing a rank)
  • Students getting All India Rank (AIR) within 6000 have a good chance of getting admission into IITs. (This translated to around 156 marks out of 360)
  • There are around 5000 seats in 16 IITs in India

  Exam Pattern

  • Offline exam consisting of 2 papers each of 3 hour duration
  • Each paper divided into 3 sections each one for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics

  Important Dates

  • JEE Advanced 2014 to be conducted on 25th May 2014
    • Paper 1 : 09:00 to 12:00 hrs (IST)
    • Paper-2 : 14:00 to 17:00 hrs (IST)
  • JEE Advanced 2014 Results : 19th June 2014
